Description
This historical villa was built in the 1600 and then completed at the end of the 1700 century. After a long period the villa was bought by the grandfather of the actual owners, a pisan noble, after having married a countess of a Bologna family. The villa is set ina small village and enjoys nice views of the valley: it is set in a special position on top of a hill but close to a village and shops. There are several frescoes in the sitting rooms on the ground and on the first floor while the servants room have wooden beams and coot floors, like in the old spacious kitchen with 50 sqm panoramic terrace. The first floor too has 3 spacious sitting rooms with frescoes and moaic floor, while the top floor, again used as a servants dormitory, is in rustic style. Under the panoramic terrace there is a terraced garden with access to the stables, still preserving 2 terracotta horse heads, and top the oil press mill with the stone wheel still visible, for the production of a good extra vergin olive oil. The total surface of the villa is of roughly 800 sqm and needs restoration works. CLASSE ENERGETICA G kWh/mq/anno n.d.
Area
The small town of Lari is situated where three ridges of the highest Pisan hills meet and has been inhabited since Etruscan times. The massive Castle is built in the centre of the town; it was recorded in the early Middle Ages although the building we see today dates to the first half of the 17th century. Due to its dominant position of the entire valley of the River Arno the Castle was an important military stronghold of the Pisan Republic. Lari merits a leisurely stroll to gradually discover the myriad of charms hidden in its streets that meander away from the town across the surrounding countryside.
