Description
This Medicean Villa was built on the ruins of a medieval castle of the XI century. It was inhabited by the powerful Medici’s family during the XVI century and used as a country villa, where to spend part of the year. The the Villa was sold to the Berti family which extended the buildings and then it was sold to the Banti family which decorated the spacious rooms with elegant frescoes
by Pietro Giarré, a painter who worked also at the Certosa di Calci.
The villa is set on 4 floors including beautiful arched cellars. The round and first floors are the so-called Piani nobili, and are quite similar: a spacious sitting room with entrances to the other rooms or bedrooms with frescoes.
The attic is still unspoiled and has wooden beams. Still today we can see the fortress where the villa has been built. Outside a nice and well-kept Italian garden still preserves fountains and old trees.
The total surface is of about 1800 sqm, and today works as little hotel, or for organization of weddings and meetings. The property is in good conditions despite needing some minor works.
